On November 15, 2022, the Ypsilanti Township Board of Trustees unanimously approved a Real Estate Purchase Agreement between the Township and Aldi Inc. On Wednesday, December 21, 2022, the Purchase Ageement with Aldi Inc. was finalized and has been fully executed.
This sale of Township-owned property (2.53 acres) located at 1420 S. Huron Street will bring another high quality grocery store and increased tax base to Ypsilanti Township. The addition of Aldi will greatly benefit those who live, work and shop in the Township, with their focus on sustainability and competitive prices. In addition, Aldi Inc. has made the construction of this new Aldi store a “High Priority” and it is anticipated this store will be open by Thanksgiving of 2023.
Supervisor Stumbo further stated that this sale of property to Aldi Inc, and other Township-owned land sales, will benefit Ypsilanti Township as a whole in that the Township Board is committed that the revenue generated from the sale of Township-owned properties will be reinvested in the Township’s commercial corridors throughout the Township.
