November 18, 2020: Effective immediately, we are suspending all inspections of occupied dwellings. This will primarily effect furnace, water heater, air conditioner, and electrical service inspections. Mechanical, plumbing and electrical contractors will not receive final inspections for occupied residences until we are at a level with the pandemic that is considered more safe. Inspections may still be scheduled for businesses where social distancing can be maintained and certainly, all new construction projects.

In certain situations where it is crucial to conduct an inspection, the inspector may conduct a video inspection at the inspectors discretion. These instances will be evaluated case by case.

The following are requirements for a pole barn:

• Lot must be zoned for residential use.
• Lot may not be in a platted subdivision.
• Lot must be 1.5 acres or more.
• Lot must have 150 feet or greater frontage.
• Setbacks from side or rear lot lines shall not be less than ten feet.
• The height of such building shall not be more than 20 feet.
• The accessory building shall only be erected in a rear yard and may exceed the ground floor area of the main building but shall not exceed other lot area coverage requirements of this ordinance.
• All building and construction codes of the township shall be complied with.

A permit for pole barns requires a Building Permit Application found on the Building Permits, Applications, & Forms page.
