Building Operations Superintendent - Posted 7/7/2020

Responsible for managing the repair and maintenance operations (including: Township property sidewalks, parking lots, lighting and landscaped areas) associated with Township buildings. Responsible for coordination, replacement and maintenance of motor pool fleet. Assist with the activities associated with solid waste and recycling collection. Make recommendation and assist coordinating building capital improvement projects.

Essential Functions, Qualifications and KSA’s for Employment
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, abilities and minimum qualifications necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. These requirements may be accommodated for otherwise qualified individuals requiring and requesting such accommodations.

• Considerable knowledge of the procedures, practices, materials and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of buildings and diagnosing, servicing, and equipment.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems (professional certifications preferred).
• Knowledge of safety practices to minimize injury and property damage in Township buildings, on Township grounds and while operating fleet vehicles.
• Skill to read and interpret blue prints, specifications and maintenance manuals.
• Interpersonal skills to lead a workforce and to interact with the public.
• Ability to compile and analyze data and to present facts and recommendations effectively in written and oral form.
• Skill in the use of the computer.
• Ability to plan, supervise and coordinate the activities of several employees engaged in a variety of repair and maintenance activities.
• Ability to compute project material, manpower and equipment needs.
• Ability to comprehend complex issues, to identify alternative solutions, and prepare appropriate recommendations.
• Must possess a valid Michigan driver’s license and have a good driving record.
• Graduation from high school or GED with advanced specialized skill trades training in building operations and management. Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Trades, business or related field preferred.
• Must have a minimum of five years managerial experience inclusive of supervisory responsibilities.

Due to this position supervising afternoon employees, ability to work flexible hours is essential.
