Clerk's Office Floater II/Clerk III - Posted 11/18/21

Seeking a full-time energetic team player to serve within the Charter Township of Ypsilanti Clerk’s Department. Specific duties to the Clerk’s Department include assist with the research, collection, follow-up and assembling of correspondence from the Township Board meetings. Process passport applications, and assist with work related to registration of voters and the election process. Process FIOA request received by the Township. Provide assistance with insurance claims and renewals. Ability to take and transcribe taped minutes of various Township meetings. Responsible for assisting with record retention, electronic filing and document organization.

Applicants must:

  • Candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Possess knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Demonstrate attention to detail while compiling, computing and recording data.
  • Have experience in team work, problem solving, conflict resolution, empathy and diplomacy
  • Accuracy in typing - 50 wpm
  • Have High School Diploma or G.E.D. with two years Clerical experience involving public contact

Treasurer's Office Floater II/Clerk III - Posted 11/18/21

Specific duties to the Clerk’s Department include Accept, count and receipt money received by the Township. Participate in the preparation, mailing and collection of tax bills. Maintain property tax collection records. Calculate and process tax adjustments and refunds. Maintain petty cash funds. Process collections for NSF checks and delinquent tax payments. Cash out and reconcile cash register. Prepare deposits.

50 & Beyond Program Bus Driver - Posted 10/7/2021

Seeking bus driver to transport participants to and from the Charter Township of Ypsilanti Community Center on various outings, and to ensure the safety of the passengers while in a Township vehicle. This position works under the direct supervision of the Recreation Coordinator. An employee in this position may do any or all of the following essential duties. (These examples do not include all of the duties the employee maybe expected to perform.)

  • Drive Charter Township of Ypsilanti bus within prescribed route(s) in accordance with time schedules; picking up and discharging participants at designated stop(s).
  • May operate wheelchair life; load and unload participants in wheelchairs on and off bus, inspecting wheelchair lift for operational safety; position and secure wheelchair in bus.
  • Transport participants and chaperone on field trips to various locations; planning necessary route(s) and stops as needed.
  • Conduct safety and operational inspection of assigned vehicle and report needed mechanical repairs when necessary.
  • Service bus with diesel fuel; check and, when necessary, fill tires.
  • Perform periodical safety and completes necessary reports upon request.
  • Wash bus and maintain cleanliness of vehicle to ensure safe operating condition.
  • Complete periodic mileage and other reports as needed.
  • Attend various meetings regarding safety, first aid, and training updates as required.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Essential Functions, Qualifications, and KSA’s for Employment
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, abilities and minimum qualifications necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. These requirements may be accommodated for otherwise qualified individuals requiring and requesting such accommodations.

• Possess and maintain a valid and appropriate Michigan Commercial Driver’s License meeting all state regulations. Ability to maintain State required medical card.
• Possession of a safe driving record
• Knowledge of safe drive practices
• Ability to read and write at a level necessary to successfully perform the required duties
• Ability to understand and carry out both oral and written instructions in an independent manner
• Ability to drive a bus safely and efficiently
• Ability to exercise good judgment and extreme caution while driving
• Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationship with supervisors and participants in the performance of required duties.
• Must pass required drug screening
• 21 years of age or older

Non-Union position.

Starting Salary: $16/hour (hourly, non-exempt)
