Ypsilanti Township’s Economic Development Department is here to help businesses and entrepreneurs. All types of businesses, from retail and service‐oriented businesses to primary employers, are important to the economic vitality of the Township.
Ypsilanti Township Economic Development department can assist with business or development needs, by connecting you to the right resource. In addition to the Township, there are a number of organizations in Southeast Michigan that support economic development and provide assistance to businesses. Our partners provide programs designed to increase investment that contributes to economic growth, but also at increasing the overall quality of life for all residents of the community.
In 2017, Ypsilanti Township received a grant from the Washtenaw County Office of Community and Economic Development to create an economic development strategy. Carlisle Wortman, planning and economic development consultants, guided the project. The strategy provides a status update of the Township's current economic outlook, different economic initiatives and actions necessary to implement the strategy. The strategy covers: Leadership and Organizational Capacity, Land Development Policies and Processes, Image and Communications Enhancements, Business Climate, Workforce Development and Education, and Physical Revitalization and Placemaking.
