Ypsilanti Township operates an extensive network comprised of individual groups that work cooperatively to improve the safety and quality of life in our community. There are approximately 30 individual groups throughout Ypsilanti Township that meet on a regular basis. Community meetings are a function of each group, supported by Township representatives and the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office. As Supervisor Brenda Stumbo states, “if you see something, say something and it is up to us to try to do something.”

Community groups meet at a suitable location in their area or at one of the Township buildings. Most groups are organized and managed by a resident coordinator and a core group of active members. Individuals groups are at liberty to conduct meetings according to their own preferences and schedules. A representative of the Township, the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office and the Township Fire Department attend each meeting, providing crime statistics and other information of interest. Issues and problems raised at meetings are brought back to the Township and Sheriff’s Office for staff assignment and resolution.
