Youth Dance

Tap Shoes ImageWe offer a variety of classes for all skill levels for children ages one and up. Our facility includes a 750 square foot room complete with mirrors and ballet bars. We also offer a large 2,100 square foot room with all the amenities of a professional dance studio; hardwood floors, mirrors and ballet bars.

 

Our six week spring and summer dance programs are the perfect opportunity to try some of our most popular classes. Students will learn technique and a fun short routine to show families on the last day of class. Dancers need to arrive in appropriate attire and proper shoes.

 

Our Fall/Winter dance program includes an annual dance recital in the spring. Fall/Winter schedule will be available in August with classes running from September - April. Students focus on technique during  the fall session. During the winter session, students concentrate more on  routines in preparation for the recital.

Competition Auditions - Tuesday, August 29, 2017 (Ages 7 - 18 years)

All dancers must audition for competition classes. Classes will be held on Tuesday evenings from September 5, 2017 - April 24, 2018 (more information will be posted when it becomes available). Please arrive 5 - 10 minutes early with proper dance attire, dance shoes and hair pulled back. Parents must walk dancers into studio to register and for competition information. Competition teams will compete in two competitions throughout the dance season.

 

Competition Pom & Baton Audition (Ages 7 - 12 years) 5:30pm - 6:30pm

Competition Jazz & Lyrical Audition (Ages 12 - 18 years) 6:45pm - 7:45pm

Musical Dance Theatre (Ages 7 - 13 years)

Theatrical performance that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting, and dance. Musical theatre dance highlights the characters and personalities portrayed in a show by diving into stylistic movement - mastering the balance between pedestrian style, technical performance, and emotionally-driven movement.
Required: comfortable clothing & black jazz shoes - no jeans.

Parent/Tot Creative Movement (Ages 1 - 4 years with a parent)

This class is the perfect introduction to movement and dance for your child. In this class, you and your child will learn to love dance together! Children learn movement, coordination and rhythm in an atmoshpere that is playful, creative and encouraging. In this 6 week class we'll sing, move and learn together for the ulitmate bonding experience! Parents/Grandparents/Caregivers are welcome to bring infants to class. Students can join this class at any time throughout the year. Dancers will not perform in annural dance recital.
Required: comfortable clothing & tennis shoes.

Hip Hop II/III (Ages 7 - 13 years)

This class incorporates a variety of old and new urban dance styles. The dancing represents body movements that go with the beat and rhythm of hip hop music. Students will learn breaking, popping, and locking. Hip Hop dancing is very dynamic and helps dancers improve flexibility, develop body balance, and coordination. It is recommended that students have taken at least one year at Level I and have mastered the basic steps, technique, and vocabulary.
Required: comfortable clothing & tennis shoes - no jeans.

Hip Hop IV (Ages 13 - 19 years)

Experience the Hip Hop style of dance through choreographed routines. Learn how Hip Hop can positively impact your life. This class is about more than just dancing. In addition to dancing skills, teens will develop increased self esteem, interpersonal skills and have fun at the same time. This workshop will be taught by Floeticstyles Hip Hop Dance Corporation. They will share their journey and experiences as young adults in the Hip Hop business.

Jazz Funk II/III (Ages 7 - 13 years)

Jazz Funk is an exciting blend of jazz and hip hop dance styles, giving the dancer exposure to both genres. A high-energy class that uses the latest sonds in rap, R&B, and pop music together with ddifferent manifestations of this dance form. Students will break down steps and techniques and bring style and personality to the movement.
Required: black jazz shoes, tight fitting clothing (tank top, leotard, capri yoga/dance pants, jazz pants, etc.) - no jeans.

Baton & Pom I & II/III (Ages 5 - 13 years)

Pom and Cheer techniques are taught. Jazz progressions are incorporated such as jazz walks, kicks, combinations, jumps, leaps, and turns. Classes will use instructor's poms
Required: black jazz shoes.

Twirling is a great activity for young children because it helps them develop spatial awareness, fine motor skills, as well as hand eye coordination. Twirling combines dance and gymnastics while manipulating one, two or three batons. Students will learn the terminology, basic twirl skills, and dance steps required for the sport of baton twirling.
Required: black jazz shoes or black baton shoes.

Level I - No previous experience is required. Level I classes introduce the student to beginning dance steps. Students normally spend two years in Level I classes.

Level I and II classes: baton fee is $25 and must be purchased at registration.

Pre-Tap & Ballet (Ages 3 - 5 years)

Pre-ballet classes include concepts that are found in an older childs dance class. The goals are to foster creativity, freedom of expression in movement, and a love for dance while building a strong foundation to prepare the students for the next level of dance.
Tap & Ballet combines two of the main genres of dance. Students will spend half the class focusing on Tap and the other half on Ballet. The goals are to foster creativity, freedom of expression in movement, and a love for dance, while building a strong foundation to prepare the students for the next level of dance.

Required: black tap shoes and pink ballet shoes.

Tap & Ballet I (Ages 5 - 7 years)

An introduction to all three main genres of dance allowing new or beginner dancers time for each style of dance in a fun, exciting learning environment.
Tap students learn to create rhythms with their feet. Classes focus on the development of a sharpened sense of rhythm, coordination, and clarity of sounds. These are incorporated in warmups, rhythm sequences, and movements across the floor.
Required: black tap shoes.

Ballet technique, vocabulary, strength and flexibility will be developed through the format of a traditional ballet class? Beginning with exercises at the barre, moving into center work and finishing with movements across the floor. Required: dance tights, solid colored leotard, and pink leather or canvas ballet slippers.

Level I - No previous experience is required. Level I classes introduce the student to beginning dance steps. Students normally spend two years in Level I classes.

Ballet & Jazz I (Ages 5 - 7 years)

In Ballet class technique, vocabulary, strength and flexibility will be developed through traditional ballet format of the traditional ballet class; beginning with exercise at the bar, moving into center work and finishing with movements across the floor.
Jazz dance class combines traditional jazz with the ever changing styles of today. Students will master the basic jazz steps and techniques while developing rhythmic awareness, flexibility, coordination, individual expression and the use of the body as a rhythmic percussive instrument.

Lyrical & Jazz IV (Ages 13 - 19 years)

Lyrical is based on the coming together of ballet, jazz and modern dance and is usually set to modern popular music. Technique is combined with creative expression. One year previous dance experience is required.
This class combines the passion of lyrical dance with the high energy of Jazz. We will focus on the connection to music and creativity. Students will be introduced to floor work and choreography exercises.
Required: tan half sole lyrical shoes, dance paws, or bare feet, tight fitting clothing (tank top, leotard, capri yoga/dance pants, jazz pants, etc.)  - no jeans.
