There are more than 50 restaurants, bars taverns, private clubs and party stores in Ypsilanti Township that are licensed by the Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC) to sell alcoholic beverages. Township ordinance officers are also liquor control officers who enforce laws and regulations of the MLCC.
The Board of Trustees has endorsed a liquor control program designed to ensure strict compliance with local, state and federal regulations. The liquor control program includes a “no tolerance” enforcement policy regarding alcohol and tobacco sales to minors. Program highlights include:
Regular inspection of licensed establishments;
Thorough investigations of alleged violations at licensed establishments;
Regular alcohol enforcement “stings” using teenage volunteers as undercover operatives;
Coordination of enforcement activities with the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department and the Michigan Liquor Control Commission.
Ypsilanti Township's Code of Ordinances may be viewed using Municode. Municode's website includes a search engine to easily find specific sections.
Residents are encouraged to report unlawful alcohol sales or service to minors.
