Recycle Ann Arbor: Document Destruction Event

Recycle Ann Arbor Hosts Document Destruction Event at the Drop-Off Station

2950 E. Ellsworth Rd. Ann Arbor, MI 48108

On Thursday, January 30, 2014 Recycle Ann Arbor, in conjunction with NPR Recyclers, will be hosting a secure document destruction day (while lockbox capacity allows) during regular business hours, 8:30am - 6:30pm.

Normally, document destruction at the Drop-Off Station (DOS) is $4 per grocery bag or $6 per bankers box, but on January 30th these fees will be waived. A limit of four bankers boxes or six grocery bags per vehicle is being imposed to prevent the lockbox capacity being used up by just a few customers with very large quantities.

The service is provided using padlocked boxes, so customers will be able to individually place their documents into the locked boxes. Once full, the boxes will be hauled to NPR recyclers in Romulus, MI. NPR offers full service shredding of old files, purged documents, design work, or other "sensitive" material. Their bonded staff, locking containers, and secure warehouse help to protect the most important data for destruction. NPR provides document destruction for St. Joes and all the William Beaumont locations.

Once all the boxes are full, the service for the day will be discontinued. If you plan to arrive later in the day, we advise calling ahead (734) 971 - 7400 to check the status of lockboxes. Recycling four bankers boxes or six grocery bags offers customers a savings of $24.

We advise customers to dress warmly if they have a large quantity of documents to place in the lockboxes. Recycle Ann Arbor will assist customers whenever possible, but for security reasons customers cannot leave the site until all their documents are put into the lockboxes.

Customers who wish to take advantage of this opportunity will have to pay the $3 entry fee. We encourage customers to bring additional items which can be recycled for free, so as to maximize the value of their visit. Additionally, Recycle Ann Arbor will give everyone participating in the event a voucher that will exempt them from paying the $3.00 entry fee during a February 2014 visit.

With the general entry fee of the day, customers can bring in a wide range of materials free including:

Plastic #1- #7 (excluding #3)
Rigid plastics such and plastic totes and lawn furniture
Glass containers
Paper, books, and magazines
Cardboard
Metal items such as microwaves, dishwashers, and bicycles (excludes Freon
