Ypsilanti Township's Ordinance Department focuses on the prevention, reduction and elimination of environmental blight and its underlying causes. This type of ordinance enforcement strategy supports the community policing philosophy by reducing or eliminating environmental factors that contribute to crime and disorder. The department also deals with liquor control, animal control, and loud noise issues.
The Ordinance Enforcement Department is part of the Office of Community Standards and works cooperatively with the Building & Planning Departments to abate public nuisances and correct zoning and land use issues.
