Jimmie Wilson Jr., Ypsilanti Township Trustee
Elected as a Trustee in 2016
Jimmie Wilson Jr. was born and raised in Ypsilanti Township and graduated from Belleville High School in 2001. He later graduated from the Michigan Institute of Aviation and Technology where he obtained his Airframe License. With that training, he went on to work for Siemens Energy in 2008, building Wind Turbines throughout the country. After traveling, and wanting to spend more time with family back here in Ypsilanti, he started working for Ford Motor Company in 2012 and is still employed there today, working at the Ford Rawsonville Plant here in Ypsilanti Township. He is also an elected official on the Executive Board for UAW Local 898 where he serves as Trustee; representing over 700 active employees and over 3,000 Retirees. He also currently serves on the Township Zoning Board of Appeals and the Washtenaw County Huron River Watershed Council.
Jimmie is a member of various community organizations such as The Ypsilanti/Willow Run Branch of the NAACP, St. Andrew’s Lodge No. 7 Free & Accepted Masons, and also the Youth Outreach Program within his church organization. He attends The Spiritual Israel Church & Its Army, here in Ypsilanti Township, where he is an ordained deacon, serving as the Chairman of the Deacon’s board and also as a Trustee for the church.
Jimmie is married to Kamilah, who works for the University of Michigan in the School of Public Health and they have 3 children. Jimmie and his family volunteer their time with the Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity and the Food Gatherers.
Since being elected as Ypsilanti Township Trustee, he has been very humbled, yet excited, to serve the community in which he grew up in. One of his main visions is for the youth of our community to have a safe place to grow up in and have positive things to do here in our community, and potentially one day raise their own children up here in the great place we call home, Ypsilanti Township.
