Charles Pope, 14-B District Court Judge
Charles Pope was elected Judge of the 14-B District Court in 2008. He was reelected in 2014. Prior to his service in this capacity, he was appointed as the first Magistrate and Court Administrator of the (then) newly created 14-B District Court in December, 1984. He served in that position for 24 years before his election to the bench. Judge Pope graduated from the University of Michigan and Wayne State University Law School. He and his wife, Carol, have resided in Ypsilanti Township since 1982 and have two daughters.
Judge Pope currently presides over a Drug Court and Domestic Violence specialty docket. He has taught in the Eastern Michigan University Paralegal Program and for the Michigan Judicial Institute in the training of new Magistrates.
